Stand up to racism rally, George Square Glasgow, social distancing, face covering, peaceful protesters met up to listen and show support for the cause.
After disgusting events the previous midweek the police were out in force ...I would say 'battle ready' totally over the top as only a handful of 'loyal statue protecters' turned up and were safely cordened off at the other end of the square.
The rally had a succession of very good speakers and just as the event was finishing the battle ready police force went into action, it was as if they were using this as a practise for future not so peaceful events, they set about kettling a large group of protesters who had done nothing other than show support for SUTR
I have read since that these guys and girls were identified for their football affiliation to Glasgow Celtic, though those kettled were not all from this group, totally over the top policing
From what was as i said earlier a peaceful protest safe distanced, face covered rally was then shot down by the Glasgow police as these people were herded like animals face to face, chest to chest and held for a long period of time before they were marched through the city streets to the Trongate and 'released'
Well done to all in attendance, Glasgow police need to review how they police events.
